The leadership of the Imo State Professional Photographers and Videographers Association of Nigeria (ISPPAN) paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Local Government Area, Hon. Chidiebere Emereibe, as part of its final engagements ahead of the 2026 World Photography Day celebration.
The visit, led by the President of ISPPAN Imo State Chapter, Comrd. Onyeahialam Chibueze T. of Lovers Multimedia, was aimed at strengthening institutional relationships with the local government administration and formally inviting the Chairman to the association's annual celebration.
Strengthening Relations with Owerri Municipal Leadership

Addressing the Chairman, Comrd. Onyeahialam conveyed greetings from the leadership and members of ISPPAN.
He explained that the courtesy visit had two principal objectives: to establish a stronger working relationship between ISPPAN and the Owerri Municipal Local Government administration, and to formally extend an invitation to the Chairman as Special Guest of Honour at World Photography Day 2026.
The celebration was scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at GLO RAN HOTEL, behind Ebere Links Filling Station, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, under the theme “HOME.”
The President emphasized the importance of engaging the leadership of the municipality hosting the celebration and building relationships that support the growth of professional photography and videography in the state.
ISPPAN President Commends Municipal Administration
During his remarks, Comrd. Onyeahialam commended Hon. Chidiebere Emereibe's leadership of Owerri Municipal Local Government Area.
He described the Chairman's administration as an important part of the Shared Prosperity Government of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, within the state capital.
“There is no way ISPPAN can celebrate her important day in Owerri without inviting the landlord and the Executive Chairman. You represent what we stand for,” Comrd. Onyeahialam stated.
The President reiterated ISPPAN's commitment to strengthening cooperation with government institutions while promoting professional standards and opportunities for photographers and videographers across Imo State.
Owerri Municipal Chairman Calls for Industry Regulation
Responding, Hon. Chidiebere Emereibe thanked the ISPPAN leadership for the courtesy visit and for recognizing his office.
He encouraged the association to maintain constructive engagement with government and emphasized the importance of establishing clear professional standards within the photography industry.
The Chairman particularly highlighted the need to distinguish trained and professional photographers from unqualified practitioners, noting that the conduct and quality of work produced by visual media professionals can influence public perceptions of the state.
“We must differentiate the professional photographers from the quacks and unprofessional ones. The image of our state and our people is in your hands,” he stated.
His remarks reinforced the importance of professionalism, industry organization and accountability in the photography and videography sector.
Building Stronger Institutional Partnerships
The courtesy visit formed part of ISPPAN's engagements with stakeholders and public institutions ahead of World Photography Day 2026.
Through such engagements, the association continues to promote professional recognition, industry development and constructive relationships with institutions whose activities affect photographers and videographers in Imo State.
The visit also provided an opportunity to highlight the association's commitment to improving professional standards and strengthening the collective voice of its members.
